When is Jesus Coming?
It’s a surprise! Why do you suppose God does not want us to know when Jesus will return? Both Paul and Peter said the day of the Lord’s return would come like a thief in the night.
1 Thessalonians 5:1-3 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
No one knows when a thief will come to their dwelling, so everyone should be watching. The same is true for the return of Jesus. God did not want us to know because He desired His children to be faithful and not slothful. You see human nature would say, well Jesus is coming on a specific day, therefore, I will live as I please and just before His return, I will ask Him to be my savior. But there is another issue, that being the spread of the gospel. We are to be living for Christ and sharing the gospel with others.
Acts 1:6 -8 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Today, be confident in His coming. Choose Jesus and receive life. If you have never received Jesus as the Lord and Savior of your life, ask Him to come into your heart, forgive you of your sins and receive His new life.
