Trials
Trials
Have you experienced any trials lately? Sometimes trials seem to be the order of the day/week/month/year. What are we to do when we experience those trials? James has some encouraging words about the trials we experience. First, James does not say we will not have trials – to the contrary. He says we will experience/encounter trials or temptations and we are to count that experience as all joy. Second, James tells us the trials bring out “endurance, steadfastness and patience.” While the trials do not feel good when I have been in the midst of them, I can see the hand of God moving to bring about His purpose.
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, James wrote, “Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations. Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience.” James 1:2-3 (AMPC)
Today, if you are in the midst of a trial, count it all joy and watch God work on your behalf.
