Treasures

I once heard a story about a man who bargained with God,to allow him to bring just one suitcase of his treasures to heaven.  When the man died and arrived at the gates of Heaven, St. Peter, allowed the man into heaven; but kept the suitcase to clear it with God.  When St. Peter opened the suitcase, he found bars of gold.  St. Peter said, “I wonder why anyone would bring pavement to Heaven!”  Our earthly treasures are of no value in Heaven.  It is in sharing the Love of Jesus with others that will bring heavenly treasures, which will last for all eternity.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Matthew recorded Jesus when He said, “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”  Matthew 6:19-21 (KJV)
