The Race
The Race
Have you ever considered a runner? Sprinters give it their all from the start; whereas, a long distance runner will pace themselves. They each wear light garments and shoes so as to limit extra weight. Consider how we are to run the race as a Christian. Just like the runner in track meets, there are those who are watching. We are encouraged to put aside every weight and sin that would detract us from our race. We are to run with patience. We are to keep our eyes on Jesus, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross. Jesus said to take up our cross and follow Him. Our cross is the set of circumstances we will face each day of our lives. Each of us has a different set of circumstances; but the outcome is the same when we have Jesus as our focus.
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Hebrews records, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2 (KJV)
Today, lighten you load, by laying aside the sin that is preventing you from focusing on Jesus and run with Joy; knowing your outcome will be spectacular.
