The Day of the Lord
Paul, James, and Peter wrote about the “Coming of the Day of the Lord.” Paul wrote of this Day in several of his letters to the Churches in Asia.
Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 1:7 “So that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift [which comes from the Holy Spirit], as you eagerly wait [with confident trust] for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ [when He returns]” and 1 Thessalonians 2:19 “For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?”
Paul encouraged the Corinthian Church that the Holy Spirit would not allow them to lack any spiritual gift needed for the ministry to which they had been called. In other words, the Lord would give them what was needed at the time of their need for the ministry, while they waited for His return. Since God is NO respecter of persons, He will do the same for us as we await His return. We are to be about His business – not the business of this world. This world is passing away.
In Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians, he encouraged the believers of his rejoicing that they would all be together at the return of the Lord. Our hope, joy and crown will be rejoicing with those to whom we have shared the gospel and will be in the presence of our Lord Jesus when He returns. Have you shared the gospel with someone who accepted Christ as Savior and Lord? Have you asked the Lord for the opportunity to share the good news with someone?
Today ask the Lord for an opportunity to tell someone about Him. Today is the time to make a decision for Christ, either in repentance or for salvation. When the Day of the Lord is upon us, it will be too late. If you have never received Jesus as the Lord and Savior of your life, ask Him to come into your heart, forgive you of your sins and receive His new life.
Remember God Loves you and I Do Too.
