Sufferings

Sometimes I see a post on Facebook that in essence says, ‘we don’t know what people are suffering; therefore, be kind.’  We all suffer various things and the degree to which we allow that suffering to affect us depends upon our resistance.  You see, the enemy of our souls does his best to devour us and get a victory over us.  Peter said we are to resist him, stand fast in our faith and know we are not suffering alone.  Not only is the Lord with us; but also our brothers and sisters in Christ who stand with us during our sufferings.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Peter wrote, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.  Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.” 1 Peter 5:8-9 (NKJV)
