Shield
Shield
During the days of Abram, shields in battle were important. Without a shield, men were unprotected from the enemy. Today, we have shields to protect us from storms, fire, and floods. It’s called insurance. How well that insurance shields us from loss often depends upon how much we pay for that protection. Abram was to become a great nation; however, he at various times in his life needed to be shielded from his enemy. God said to Abram “Fear not, I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” Abram did not have to pay for God’s protection. It was freely given to Him.
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Genesis recorded, “After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” Genesis 15:1 (KJV)
Today, Fear not, God is your shield and your exceeding great reward.
