Salutation
Salutation
A salutation is the greeting of one to another. When in high school English class, we were taught various salutations for different types of letters. When Paul wrote his letters to the churches in Asia minor, he had a standard greeting in which he always wished the recipient “grace and peace.” How do you greet people? Our words are powerful and can either be soothing or cause pain.
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Paul wrote, “Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.” 2 Thessalonians 3:16-18 (KJV)
Today, choose your words carefully and soothe someone’s hurts.
