Planted

When you were growing up, did you ever get into trouble for things you did and did not do?  When you disobeyed your parents, most likely you got into trouble. God, like our earthly parents, only wants what is best for us.  He gives us encouragement on how not to walk with ungodly people; how not to hang around with sinners or complainers.  He encourages us to take delight in and study his word.  When we are obedient, He says we will be like a tree firmly planted by rivers.  Those trees always have enough water to sustain them.  They bring fruit in season and they don’t wither and die.  Our lives are like that tree.  When we stay firmly connected to the Lord, we are sustained by Jesus – the living water.  We bring forth fruit in due time and we will prosper in Him.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Paul wrote, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalm 1:1-3 (KJV)

Today, take the steps necessary to be planted in Jesus.
