Forgiveness
How hard is it for you to forgive? There are times when forgiveness seems counter intuitive to the situation. We lived in Pennsylvania at the time of the massacre of the young Amish girls in their schoolhouse. We saw Amish men go to the home of the man responsible for their daughter’s deaths and offer their forgiveness. The healing that took place was palpable in the community. It was like a balm poured out on the community. Forgiveness is never easy; but, oh so necessary. While praying for God’s healing, He lead me to know I had to go down that path of forgiveness. You see, unforgiveness, bitterness, and hatred is a burden you were never meant to carry and it only makes you sick.
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Paul wrote, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32 (NIV)
Today, forgive and receive the peace that passes all understanding and the healing of your hurts.
