Fear (Part 2)
How do we deal with fear? The first thing the Psalmist said we should do is to bless or give thanks to the Lord at all times. How do we do that when we are in the throws of anxiety and are fearful. Proverbs 23:7a says “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. . .” Now don’t think this is simplistic, it is the truth. When you think fearful thoughts, you will be fearful. The mind is powerful. The Psalmist said, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Psalm 56:3-4. When our thoughts are focused on the Lord, we cannot think fearful thoughts.
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, the Psalmist wrote, “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul will make its boast in the Lord; The humble will hear it and rejoice. O magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and He answered me, And delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34: 1-4(KJV)
Today, think, trust and give thanks to the Lord for He is good and His mercy endures forever.
