Desolation

Desolation is described as “a state of complete emptiness or destruction.”  Emptiness is a good description of what we are observing in our nation. Emptiness of faith, hope, and love – faith in Jesus, hope for the future and love for God. How did we get here? Paul wrote, “Because that when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. . . And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, (a mind devoid of judgment) to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whispers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventers of evil things, disobedient to parents, . . .” (Romans 1:21, 28-30 KJV) If ever scripture described our current condition, the above scriptures certainly do.  So, what do we do to return from emptiness and destruction to faith, hope, and love?  It is IMPERATIVE that we return to our first love – Jesus Christ, the Son of God and ask for forgiveness for our sins, which are many. Folks, its time to fish or cut bait, as the old saying goes. Get off our laurels and down on our knees and repent. Jesus is our only hope.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Matthew recorded Jesus when he said, And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: Matthew 12:25 (KJV)

Today, turn to God in prayerful repentance and watch the hand of God move. (Read Romans 1:16-32 for the rest of the story.)
