Clothed

We are clothed with many different garments throughout our lives, which protects us from the elements. When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, there is a type of clothing given to us for this present life and for eternity. That clothing is just as necessary as the clothes we wear today. First, we have the garments of salvation, which allows our entrance into heaven. As a result of our salvation, we are clothed with the robe of righteousness.  What is righteousness?  According to Crosswalk.com, “righteousness is the perfect holiness of Christ.” God only sees the righteousness/holiness of Christ when he looks at us. Jesus has clothed us in His righteousness; therefore, we are holy because He is Holy.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Isaiah wrote, “I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.” Isaiah 61:10 (KJV)

Today, don’t let the enemy of your soul continually harass you with accusations of past sin, confess it, forget it and trust you are forgiven and clothed in the righteousness of Christ.
