Abounding

Abounding

Abounding is defined as “very plentiful; abundant.”  To be abounding in the work of the Lord then is to be like a well tended fruit tree that has abundant fruit.  How do we do that and still work every day and take care of hearth and home?  It would seem to me for us to abound in the work of the Lord, we have to spend time with Him and let His hand guide us through our days.  Let Him work His work through us.  After His resurrection and before Jesus ascended into heaven, He told His disciples they would “be witnesses.”  He did not say “do witnessing.”   Our performance oriented society leads us to busy work; but, Jesus living through us gives us divine appointments.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Paul wrote, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”  1 Corinthians 15:58 (KJV)
