Treasure

Normally, it is something that is highly valued and to be protected from loss.  Jesus said we are to lay up our treasures in heaven. So, what treasures was He referencing?  Perhaps he would be referring to our deeds of kindness, sharing our faith with someone, giving to the poor or to support missionaries, or even just being thankful for the many blessings He has given to us – the times He has protected us from the evil of this world.  So, where do you stand with storing up treasures?  Are your treasures more earthly or heavenly?

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Matthew recorded Jesus when He said, “Do not gather and heap up and store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust and worm consume and destroy, and where thieves break through and steal. But gather and heap up and store for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust nor worm consume and destroy, and where thieves do not break through and steal; For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”  Matthew 6:19-21 (AMPC)

Today, reflect on where your treasure is – for there will be your heart also.
